Would you like to contribute to the design of digital education?
Education is important. Education matters. Sanoma Learning, a division of the Finnish company Sanoma, provides learning solutions for primary and secondary education in the Netherlands and four other European countries. Malmberg focuses on the Dutch market and continuously develops methods to meet the educational challenges of the present and the future. Would you like to be part of the transformation currently taking place on the educational landscape from teaching out of books to teaching through digital resources? Then join us and contribute to the future of our children!
Our goal is to become the digital front runner in education in Europe. In order to achieve this, we use the latest tools for developing online learning platforms, allowing us to respond quickly to any new requests that teachers and pupils may have.
The Business Technology (BT) department consists of 70 specialists, including 10 Frontend Developers, and is responsible for the development and management of educational applications in the Netherlands and abroad. We use advanced technology (cloud), supported by modern development and test tools. The broad range of digital products we have developed is something to be proud of. We are looking for Frontend Developers to enhance this department. Would you like to make a (innovative) contribution to the quality of education? Then check out what we have to offer!
Malmberg’s frontend technology stack:
- Angular / AngularJS
- HTML5 and CSS3 (SASS)
- Amazon Web Services
- Quality and version management (Linting, Github)
- Unit tests (Spectator, Jasmine, Karma)
- Task runners, bundling and dependency management (npm, Yarn and webpack)
- RESTful APIs

As Frontend Developer, you work as a member of one of the SCRUM teams developing Malmberg’s latest, device-independent learning platforms or one of our four international learning companies. It involves a high-quality, complex online environment in which you are primarily responsible for ensuring that the front-end functionality of a number of digital products continues to meet user wishes. You build bridges between design (UX and visual), business (e.g. primary education) and the team. Together with other frontend developers, you regularly brainstorm about new technologies and solutions to ensure that our digital products are and remain the best in class. You will have plenty of freedom for personal development and for exploring and trying out new technologies.
You determine your own future; we build it together. Your continued personal development is important to us. We set aside time for coaching and implementing a customised development process. There is ample freedom for educational development, initiating and testing new technologies or ideas, and participating in Hackatons and Lunch&Learn sessions.
We also have attractive employment conditions, such as:
- A salary range of €3,500 – 5,500 based on a 36-hour working week (depending on work experience)
